Well science recomends to avoid the atack to the person, so i will not say nothing about the person of Mr. De Grey. He maybe or maybe not a charlatan time will tell.

Other motivated people have done remarkable things without being even phds in the specific areas. The fathers of Lorenzo Odone have accomplished a respectful scientific discover about the disease of their son.

We must questions his ideas. I particularly do not see any evidence of his claims, but if there is a possibility, well lets investigate. And there are people investigating. Immortality or very long life span worth the trouble thats for certain.

Hi Aliya -- I am sure this post will make many bloggers smile and laugh. Glad that you are back! It's best to stay super current and update a blog as often as possible. But I agree this shouldn't be done indiscriminately. The integrity and creative energy of a blog should not be compromised.

Thanks for your comments. I must point out that despite the fact that I really enjoyed Rand's book as it contains some inherent truths, I'm still an avid socialist at heart and always will be. But reading the virtue of selfishness from a personal perspective, rather than a wider political one was certainly interesting and thought-provoking.

Nice to read someone who comes or came from the other side of the ideology. I must tell you that I was once a firm believer of Marxism. That time, I felt there was something wrong with communism or socialism that I failed to define until I read Rand's books-- Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged. I read Fountainhead first and I was amazed at how Ayn Rand portray the man who should live on earth and whose work ought to stand above all architectural works of his time. And when I read Atlas Shrugged I found out there was more to Ayn Rand's view of virtue of selfishness that I failed to understand in the very beginning.
So long...

:-)

I think you just proved my point! Wow, you learn something new every day... I love being corrected, so please feel free to critique me. If I can get better at grammar, my life will be that much more fulfilling.

Now I'm becoming disturbingly paranoid about every word I write.

I'm just happy I found people as passionate about grammar as I am: I was starting to think I was a bit weird and slightly nerdy, but now I'm feeling a whole lot better about myself.

Absolutely adore Stephen Fry with a passion; his podcast is fabulously entertaining.

I've only just seen this post. Thanks for the plug.

By the way, and I write this knowing you will take it in the good humour intended, strictly speaking you should have written, "none of us is perfect," as 'none' should be treated as 'not one'. This is explained by the marvellous Stephen Fry here

Hi Silent Rant,

Thanks for your comments. Obviously Madhavi Sunder was speaking as an outsider, but to be honest, that's the main reason I really appreciated her point of view. I think that sometimes it's difficult to see the wood for the trees when you're on the inside.

That's why sometimes it's better to get an outsider's point of view. They see things that you might not be able to see.

And for links - well yes, any link love is most certainly welcome! Please feel free to reference my blog, and send me a link - will most certainly return the favour by commenting and adding my thoughts.

It's a small world after all! Interesting that you were at the same lecture... I'm planning to attend many more LSE lectures next term so hopefully might see you around!
